This is because you will start to receive one way incoming links from other website owners who link to your useful information.   When you first start promoting your website with a linking campaign, use a balanced linking system.   What do I mean by this?   You need to focus on all types of linking: - Reciprocal linking - Directory submissions - Article submissions - Social bookmarking - One way links to and from other related websites   But more importantly, you need to make you linking system appear natural.   What is a natural linking system?   A little logic is need to answer this, ask your self:   Is it natural for a website to suddenly receive hundreds of inbound links?   Is it natural for a website to only use reciprocal links?   Is it natural for a website to only get inbound links from directories?   Is it natural for a website to only get inbound links from articles?   Is it natural for a website not to link to other related websites (with one way links)?   Is it natural for a website to suddenly appear on the scene and have no further work done to it?   The answer to all of these is NO!   Don't upload a 50 page website and within a week have hundreds of incoming links pointing to it.   Upload a third of your website to start with, and add new pages each week. While adding new pages, edit some of your existing pages.   Start your linking campaign slowly and gradually increase the number of incoming links to your website. As your website grows and traffic increases so you can increase the frequency of adding new incoming links.   Your website should receive inbound links from a variety of sources and it is vital to get one way links from other related websites. Not only that, your website should also link to other related websites (with one way links). These one way links should be placed in the articles on your webpages, not on a links page.   There's a bit of give and take involved here - if you expect other websites to link to yours because you offer great information, be prepared to link to other websites which also offer great information. The whole idea is to give your website visitor great information on your own site, and links to other great information on other websites.   Just don't go overboard with one way outbound links. Your major focus must be on receiving quality inbound links from other websites. Here are 5 steps to dramatically increase the number of inbound links to your websites from a variety of sources.   1) Reciprocal linking - I have covered this over the last three emails, but one thing I never mentioned was how to find reciprocal link partners.   Type the major keyword phrase for your website into a search engine and include "add link" at the end (include the speech marks). your could also try these:  - "reciprocal link"  - "submit link"  - link  - partners   Go though each search engine listing and find websites which you think would be of great service to your website visitors. By linking to top quality websites you stand a good chance of your website visitors bookmarking your site because it contains such great links.   Getting your website bookmarked on a popular social bookmarking service means more one way links to your site...   Another important point to remember is to vary your reciprocal link anchor text and description. You should also vary the link url - this will get you a variety of links pointing to a number of your inner webpages which makes the linking seem a little more natural.   2) Submit your link details to as many web directories as your can. Do it slowly but regularly. Rather than trying to find these web directories use Brad Callen's Directory submitter (there is a paid version which has 1600+ directories or a no cost version you can download which has 350 directories).   http://Colin-Evans.com/Recommends/Directory-Submitter.html   This does not auto-submit to any directories, you have to manually submit to each of the 350 directories. The submitter makes this easy by automatically adding your link details to the entry form on each directory. All you have to do is choose the right category for your link, and hit the submit button.   One great advantage of using the submitter is it keeps a record of each directory you have submitted to (for each of your websites). You can add your links to directories nice and slowly without having to record which directories you have already submitted to...   3) Write articles related to your website and submit them to article directories. All article directories allow you to add an author's resource box (or bio link) to the bottom of each article you submit. Use this facility to write a compelling reason why readers of the article should visit your website, and include a link to your website.   You don't need to submit your article to hundreds of article directories, just submit them to the major article directories such as:  - http://EzineArticles.com  - http://GoArticles.com  - http://ArticleDashBoard.com   By submitting articles you get one way links from the article directory itself and from any websites which publish your article. By submitting to only the major article directories these links will be added gradually over time as more and more websites publish your articles.   4) Submit each of your major webpages on all your websites to social bookmarking sites such as:  - http://Technorati.com  - http://del.icio.us  - http://Stumbleupon.com  - http://Reddit.com  - http://google.com/Bookmarks   But, and it's a big but...   Don't bookmark only your own webpages or your social bookmarking account could be closed for spamming. Your best bet is to bookmark at least four other webpages for each of your own. The best pages to bookmark are your reciprocal link partner's pages (i.e. pages on their websites, not the reciprocal links pages). Help them get more traffic and your reciprocal links on their websites stand a better chance of sending you more traffic.   It you use the FireFox browser there's a useful tool you can use which makes bookmarking a whole lot easier. Go to http://www.socialmarker.com and add their social bookmarker tool to your FireFox bookmarks toolbar. When you are on a website that you want to bookmark, simply select the text you want to include in the social bookmark then click the SocialMarker button which automatically pre-populates the submission form with the selected information.   5) Create small websites (or blogs) on places such as:  - http://blogger.com  - http://spaces.msn.com  - http://pages.google.com  - http://www.tripod.com   You can use good quality, related PLR articles to create these sites and include one or two links back to your primary website. The links must be placed within the article as if you are suggesting a useful resource for the reader to get further information.   If you take a little time to make the PLR articles unique (i.e. re-write them), the sites will not be filtered out by any duplicate content filters.
